How’s She Goin’?
Who We Are
Most people don’t know us (except, maybe, from radio and TV) because we don’t brag a lot about what we do. Even though what we do is pretty good. Wait a minute, that’s bragging, isn’t it? You would think that two people who have worked many years in broadcasting wouldn’t be so shy.
Well, here’s a little bit about us. BJ McKenzie and I, Dick Maney, have been making movies, documentaries, commercials, audio books and recordings and a whole host of other things involving the electronic media. I’ve been working full time in my business for 40 years as of this September. BJ joined me about 20 years ago. I and we have won many national and international awards for our work. We like getting accolades on occasion, but that isn’t why we do this. Most of all, we enjoy the process. We both find the work exciting, challenging, fun, and very satisfying. As long as we think we’ve done our best work, we’re satisfied. But then it helps if our client likes the work, too.

Hi, I’m BJ McKenzie. I’ve been working with Dick Maney for 20 some years. (It doesn’t really seem like it’s been that long.) I started working at Maney Telefilm after 13 years as a Radio Personality…or DJ as most folks would say. It has been a pleasure working with Dick. Making films is what he does. It seems it is just an inherent thing to him. I know he would do just fine without me, but when the two of us work on a project together we seem to create something even better. As we sometimes say…“We don’t do schlock, we make damn good Schlock!” He knows the technical stuff and I the critical. We both share in the creative.
So we plan to share some of our adventures in film making with our blog. Good bad and otherwise. I hope you enjoy the journey.
